[If Phoenix had any strong inkling that Edgeworth was torturing himself with these questions, he would tell Edgeworth to stop. But right now he just assumes that it's a friend talking to him about the weird issues of the dream world.]

I don't know. I think it gave me some clarity that I've grown up a lot since college.

[And it helped him realize that with the whole Iris and Dahlia thing laid to rest, perhaps it's time to move on from that period of his life. Maybe.]

But I also think I just so badly want to not be here that it was easy for my mind to latch onto the last thing that happened at home.

I'm not a psychologist or anything so I don't know.

...no. Hope is a fool's emotion, putting stock in things that won't happen and never will.]

One of the last things that happened at home was that I came home from my trip to find a murder victim in my office, so I'm rather glad my dream was just sticking to the usual wants from me.

As awful as it was being captured like that, it was good for me at least to see my father. If painful.

[It had been a couple weeks or so since the end of his own case before Phoenix arrived here, and he recalls hearing vaguely about Edgeworth's adventures with Interpol.]

Yeah, that would have been a weird dream to have I'm sure.

I'm glad you got to see your father. I'm glad I got to meet him too, at least in a way.

Honestly, you didn't miss much.

The court battles were a little too easy in my dream.

[Then it's almost like he admitted something horrible, quickly rushing in to address that flaw.]

Not that I enjoy all the stress that's come from the cases you've seen me in!

But you know. I think I understand why you like to keep busy.

Of course! You've always been the best rival in court.

In my dream world, it was like having Winston Payne's incompetence times 100 as the prosecutor. I guess it took my desire to help the innocent a little too seriously.
