Phoenix's hair is still somewhat spiky, but entirely made of black feathers. The feathers extend down his neck and onto his shoulders and partially down his back, changing from black to blue, then to a bright orange-red.
The trail of feathers continues down his spine, coming to form a large tail, dark blue and bright orange-red. The same pattern continues onto the back of his arms until his elbows, with a few more spots on his chest and pelvic area. Below his knees are more feathers with the same pattern (blue/orange-red), and below that the rest of his legs are replaced by flexible bird legs and talons.
His fingers have claws and his ears are pointy. He also has wings extending from his back, dark blue toward the roots and orange-red on the rest.
Phoenix's eyesight is very sharp and he can hone in on details from very far away. In addition, Phoenix is starting to develop a sense for weather patterns.

AU History: Phoenix has a similar history as his canon, except this time he has actual siblings! Maya is his younger sister, whom he is reluctantly living apart from to ease financial strain.
Their older sister and mother were murdered seemingly by monsters, but that explanation never sat quite right with Phoenix, and has partly motivated his journey to become a defense attorney. As a result, he has offered to help out monsters who have been seemingly wrongly accused of murder, but at least one time that ended with Phoenix barely escaping with his life. While Phoenix has a healthy fear of monsters, he knows that they're just trying to survive and feels sympathy for them. It also doesn't help that he suspects that someone is taking advantage of this to frame them...
Outside of work, he does try to sell his artwork to get some money, which partly funded his law degree. He also visits Maya at BooBies, but quietly wishes she wasn't working for a restaurant with that name and certainly worries about her.
